Can any one give me information on Blue Tooth?

I have a mobile phone with Blue Tooth. Sometimes when I am at work or college someone or something tries to connect to my blue tooth. For this to happen does this person need to be in the same room as me.

Can any one give me information on Blue Tooth?
i work for a mobile phone company and bluetooth range is 10 metres most handsets cannot access your phone without you accepting to pair with the device but be aware most sony ericssons can pair with a device and take things from your phone whilst you are waiting to be sent something
Reply:WITHIN ABOUT 10 METERS BUT THEY CANNOT CONNECT UNLESS YOU AGRRE SO DONT WORRY JUST DENY ACCES
Reply:No they dont need to be in the same room, As has already been said the range is 10 metres. Normally they cant 'pair' with you unless you agree to accept. However an enterprising person can hack into your phone if your bluetooth is switched on.

so I wouls recommend you switch off bluetooth until you need it (or at least switch it to hidden mode.).

You can do this by going into the various menus of your phone.

Also you will find your battery lasts a lot longer with bluetooth switched off.

Out of interest next time your in apublic place like a pub do a search and see how many phones you pick up with bluetooth.
Reply:the girl with the second is right i have a Sony Ericsson and i stole my Pricapals and her Assistanint Princapals contacts everything today and they where like PDAs or something like tht Sony Ericssons a very powerful i have all kinds of bluejacking, bluesnfaing or something like tht tools to get into ppls cell phones so i would be very careful and i would also leave ur bluetooth off and SE are mostly affect so dont buy an SE if u do once again becareful
Reply:Bluetooth works on a very low level radio frequency. You kind of 'tune in' to each phone from a distance of up to 10m (usually). You have probably noticed people trying to send dodgy photos to you if you have noticed it and/or they ask for you to allow them.

There is a more serious side though - bluejackers. They will hack into your phone to take your personal details. I don't really see much point in doing that but i'm sure people ahve their reasons. If you have any personal info on your device then this is more of a worry.

I would turn the bluetooth off other than when you need to use it to be completely safe. If you don't want to do this then just reject the request.
Reply:yes, the person have to be in the same room or near by area. bluetooth don't catch signals from far ,
