Why blue tooth devices are called bluetooth...?

why not.. any other color... red tooth.. or green tooth.. etc

Why blue tooth devices are called bluetooth...?
The term is far less high tech than you might imagine, and finds its roots in European history. The King of Denmark from 940 to 981 was renowned for his ability to help people communicate, his name (in English)... Harald Bluetooth. Perhaps a bit obscure, but the reference is appropriate for a wireless communications standard.

Reply:It is named after Harald Bluetooth Gormson (Danish: Harald Blåtand, Old Norse: Haraldr blátönn, Norwegian: Harald Blåtann), who was born around 935, the son of King Gorm the Old, king of Jutland (that is, peninsular Denmark) and of Thyra (also known as Thyre Danebod) a supposed daughter of Harald Klak, Jarl of Jutland, or daughter of a noblemen of Sønderjylland who is supposed to have been kindly disposed towards Christianity. He died in 986 having ruled as King of Denmark from around 958 and king of Norway for a few years probably around 970. Some sources state that his son Sweyn forcibly deposed him as king.

Reply:The name came from a 11th century King of Denmark named Harold Bluetooth. Harold Bluetooth engaged in diplomacy which involved negotiating with others. Therefore the company thought it was a good idea to use the name Bluetooth which is a device or another way to communicate with one another.

In this case no meaning just a great name that catches your attention and is in no way related to any other devices. You know exactly what your speaking about when you mention a "bluetooth" no way to confuse it with another type devie. Stands out as a great name obviously. And the number one reason to choose a name like this , is because you remember it well. Once you hear it you can actually get a visual and it is in your brain forever. This is what advertisers want you to do.
